Model Overview

Regarded as one of the most innovative and influential musicians of the 20th century, EVH was known for fast and fluid guitar solos, impeccable tone and dazzling technique.  Constantly modifying his guitar for ever greater levels of performance, Eddie experimented with various necks, pickups, wiring configurations, and bridges, and ultimately ushered in the era of “Superstrats.”  Our “1984” neck pays homage to his remarkable contribution to guitar playing and design by combining many of the specs he popularized into one highly playable, high-performance replacement neck.   

Why Roasted Quartersawn?

Quartersawn wood blanks offer enhanced stability vs. the flatsawn neck blanks most necks are manufactured from.  Roasting the wood further enhances stability by reducing the moisture content down to around 7%.  The result is a more-resonant neck that’s stronger and less susceptible to changing weather conditions.

• Thin poly satin finish for hours of frictionless playing.
• Compound 12”-16” fretboard radius offers a more comfortable feel when chording on the lower notes and a flatter 16” radius in the higher registers for fast, aggressive soloing and wild bends  
• Cut for an R3 locking nut to be used with a Floyd Rose® or other locking trems
• Squared fretboard overhang mimics Eddie’s original aesthetic while the heel of the neck is rounded to fit most Strat® neck pockets

• All necks may require fret leveling and polish.  This is normal and not a defect.
• To protect against the effects of moisture, we recommend sealing unfinished necks prior to installation.
• Due to the lack of moisture in roasted maple, the risk for cracking is more apparent.  When drilling holes for screws, we recommend measuring inside and outside of the threads first to determine the correct drill bit to use.  Do not force screws into holes drilled with smaller drill bits.
